Meet your therapist, Jen
"I am larger, better than I thought; I did not know I held so much goodness." - Walt Whitman
Hello! I'm Jen. After six transformative years in Austin, Texas, I have returned to my roots in Virginia to be closer to family. Now, I am thrilled to offer mobile bodywork services to the Winchester area and beyond.
Becoming a massage therapist was not a path I initially envisioned for myself. As a young adult, fresh into married life and a challenging childhood behind me, I was committed to making the world a better place, working with children with special needs.
However, a significant transition to Austin, Texas, ushered a period of personal struggle. Symptoms of anxiety and depression emerged, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and lost. It was during this time I discovered Austin's vibrant alternative healing community, and I realized that to truly help others, I needed to focus on my own healing first.
Experiencing various emotional support groups in Austin introduced me to the breadth of trauma's impact, from generational trauma (epigenetics) to complex PTSD stemming from my past. This revelation led me to explore massage therapy.
Massage school was an enlightening experience, where I discovered the profound benefits of intentional healing touch and the innate healing capabilities of our bodies. As I learned to regulate my own nervous system, I found that massage complemented other healing modalities like yoga, meditation, breathwork, acupuncture, and Ayurvedic practices. Regular bodywork became an integral part of my self-care routine and a source of stability during challenging times.
Today, I am still on an introspective journey of understanding and embracing my own energy. I am learning to love myself with compassion and without judgment. My heart is not as tough as I once thought, but rather, it's warm, tender, and even a bit playful!
I am passionate about creating healing spaces for others to experience peace and freedom. Now, I contribute to the world not just through kindness and love, but also by helping others feel secure and relaxed within their bodies.
May you feel safe.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live in peace.
I offer my heartfelt gratitude to my teachers and mentors along the way that have shown me the strength of gentleness, the value of balance, and the power of savoring the pause.
